A Natural Destination
River Oaks Retreat has a rich history of helping people of all ages experience spiritual growth as they enjoy the outdoors. Its beauty and facilities make it a perfect destination for retreats, family reunions, and weddings, along with recreational opportunities that make it ideal for youth camps, educational programs, and children's events.

River Oaks Crew

Wilbur and Jackie Coker donated the land in 1964 to create River Oaks Camping Outdoor Recreation & Education (C.O.R.E.) center. Their legacy for nature infused personal growth lives today through River Oak's current directors and staff.

History

Wilbert and Jackie Coker donated the 61.5 acres that make up River Oaks to the South Carolina District of the Assemblies of God in 1968 when they returned from a children's camp where they served as camp counselors. They were so inspired by their experience that they wanted their own beautiful forested riverside property to serve as a summer camp where children's lives would be changed.

The camp has recently expanded to serve as a year-round facility for people of all ages, and the name was changed from Assembly Acres to River Oaks.
